UPVC Windows

What is UPVC?

UPVC is an abbreviation for Un-plasticised Polyvinyl Chloride, one of the most popular materials used for window frames, doors, conservatories, and Rooftrim (including fascias and soffits, bargeboards, cladding, guttering and downpipes).

UPVC windows, doors and conservatories are often a contemporary-looking brilliant white. However, UVPC is also available in a range of other colours and finishes, so if your home is a more traditional style, you can choose coloured UPVC, or even UPVC windows and doors with a wood-style finish.

What's the difference between UPVC and PVCU?

UPVC and PVCU are just different names for exactly the same material. In the UK, it was initially referred to as UPVC, but began to be referred to as PVCU in the late 1980s, as this was the abbreviation used in other European countries.

What are the benefits of UPVC?

UPVC has a number of advantages when compared to other materials used for home improvements:

  • It provides great insulation - UPVC doesn't conduct heat very well, so it helps to keep your home warm. UPVC windows and doors can help you to reduce draughts in your home and lower your heating bills.
  • It's durable - you won't need to worry about your UPVC windows, doors or Rooftrim rotting or warping. UPVC will stand up to the worst of the British weather and will last for many years.
  • It's easy to maintain - UPVC is a low maintenance material, so you won't need to spend time and money on repainting it. Simply wiping it down with soapy water every so often will be enough to keep your windows and doors looking like new.
  • It's attractive - UPVC windows, doors, conservatories and Rooftrim will help you to keep your home looking fresh and contemporary, and the range of finishes on offer means that you'll be able to find the perfect product to suit the style of your home.
  • It's environmentally-friendly - As well as helping to reduce energy consumption, UPVC can be recycled. Anglian is very concerned about the environment and we recycle UPVC removed when we are installing windows, doors and Rooftrim to re-use in non-visible parts of new window frames.
  • It's affordable - UPVC is affordable and, because it's long-lasting, easy to maintain and can help to reduce your heating costs, it's great value for money.
